Forecasts for anywhere, with current conditions, hourly and daily outlooks, sunrise and sunset, UV, wind and air quality, for your own saved places and in your units.
Weather forecasts anywhere: current conditions, the next 48 hours hour by hour, up to 16 days ahead, sunrise and sunset, UV, wind, humidity and air quality. It's personal: your saved places and your units belong to you, not an organization, and are the same in every app and on every device. Open it at weather.cactive.com.au or from the app switcher.
The app
- Today shows the weather where you are, once you allow your location, or at one of your places: pick which at the top. Your browser remembers the pick. Your location is only used for the forecast, rounded to about 100 m, and isn't stored; Save Place keeps it as a named place.
- Places finds towns, cities and postcodes, adds them, puts them in your order (drag them, or use a place's menu) and removes them, and sets your units. Each place has its own page in the sidebar.
- Search at the top finds any place and opens its forecast; Add to Places keeps it.
- Each forecast shows now, the next 24 hours as a strip and a chart of temperature and the chance of precipitation, the next 10 days, sunrise and sunset, UV, wind, humidity, precipitation, pressure and visibility, and air quality. Times are the place's own.
On your phone
The Weather app for iPhone has the same Today, Places and place forecasts, signed in with your account. Use My Location asks for your location while you use the app; it's rounded to about 100 m for the forecast and never stored. Your places and units are the ones you see on the web. Links to Weather's pages open in the app when it's installed.
Your places and units
- Saved places: up to 20, in your order. Search by name or postcode; add the region or country after a comma to narrow it ("Melbourne, Florida"). Each place keeps its own time zone, so its days start at its midnight.
- Units: metric (°C, km/h, mm) or imperial (°F, mph, in). Pressure stays in hPa and visibility in metres. Your choice applies wherever you don't pick another.
- A forecast for a point within 1.5 km of one of your saved places carries that place's name.

Conditions follow the WMO weather codes ("Partly cloudy", "Light showers", "Thunderstorm with hail"), with day and night versions where the sky shows.

Where the data comes from
Forecasts, air quality and place search come from Open-Meteo under CC BY 4.0, so "Weather data by Open-Meteo.com" is shown wherever the data is. Forecasts are kept for 10 minutes for each area of about 1 km, so a place many people look at is asked for once. If Open-Meteo doesn't answer, a forecast up to an hour old is shown instead.
Privacy
- Coordinates you ask about are rounded to about 1 km before they leave the platform, and are never logged. What you search for isn't logged either.
- Saved places are stored to about 100 m. No organization, its owners, admins or keys can read them, and they don't appear in any audit log.
- Keys with
weather:readget forecasts and search, never your places or units.
Caity and AI clients
Ask Caity "what's the weather in Ballarat this weekend?": AI clients get weather_forecast (a place by name, your saved places first, or coordinates) and weather_places_search, both read-only (see MCP tools).
